Visible characters use grapheme clusters. An emoji family or combining accent can be one character, but multiple code points.

Limits
Up to 1 MiB total UTF-8 input. Line operations normalize CRLF/CR to LF. Processing stops after 5 seconds.
Word segmentation is approximate and varies by language/browser.
Intl.Segmenter is unavailable: approximate word counting and code-point character counting are used.
